Introduction

The Straight forward with Science series has been written to support children with their Upper Key stage 2 Science work.

There are activities and questions on almost every spread designed to make the reader interact with the text by using critical thinking skills, planning investigations, gathering easily obtainable materials and equipment and carrying out scientific investigations. These may be illustrative to reinforce what has been read or to provide opportunities to develop observational skills. Where an activity is an example of one or more types of scientific enquiry it is referenced at the back of the book.

The Straight Forward with Science series builds on the foundations provided by the Ways into Science series and the Moving up with Science series to provide a complete resource for primary science teaching. The three series can be used to follow and check the children’s progression through the UK National Curriculum for Science.
